Five New Companies Find Home for Start-up Businesses. The Pottsville/Schuylkill Technology Incubator has been the ideal home for start-up technology businesses since November of 2001. This year has been a great year for start-up entrepreneurs. The upswing in economic conditions has encouraged five new businesses to open operations in the Incubator. That is eight new technology jobs in Schuylkill County. Businesses receive vital assistance and shared services in the Pottsville/Schuylkill Technology Incubator. National success rates for incubated businesses are over 85%.
Renovations at the Pottsville/Schuylkill Technology Incubator have begun. JEM Contracting was awarded the bid in the amount of $218,000. The project will include making the building ADA accessible and replacing many of the existing windows. Renovations are being funded by an Economic Development Administration Grant in the sum of $400,000.
Driving Technology Systems, Inc. has already needed to expand from a 250 sq. ft. office to 850 sq. ft. This move came after they hired a full-time sales consultant. Driving Technology Systems Inc. has impressively added three new products to their existing ignition interlock system, preliminary breath test instrument, and reflective traffic control products. DTS has been named the North Eastern United States distributor for Intelli-Check, Inc. Intelli-Check manufactures ID verification systems to be used in bars, restaurants, airports, financial institutions, convenience stores etc. With the new Patriot Act and internet ID fraud, the need to verify identification will be soon standardized by these types of instruments. DTS is also proud to announce their "Safe Driver" one time, disposable alcohol breath tester for the public! This unique device will allow anyone to determine if they have exceeded the state legal limit of .08% BAC. One can now test their own breath alcohol content BEFORE they drive. Last but not least, in support of the nation-wide "click it or ticket" campaign, DTS will provide enforcement projects a reflective message board alerting motorists of the new law. This high quality reflective message board is being distributed now at a rapid pace to all 5 counties that make up the North Central Highway Safety Network. Due to the expanded product line, DTS has moved to the third floor of the Lipkin Technology Building to allow room for product storage, equipment maintenance, and an office for our new full-time sales consultant, Matthew Hennessy. Driving Technology Systems Inc would also like to recognize Liana Evans, owner of Crossroads MultiMedia for completely revamping our web-site in a quite impressive professional manner. With Driving Technology Systems Inc, Crossroads MultiMedia is also located in the Pottsville/Schuylkill Technology Incubator. Contact Information Remains
